Such beautiful and majestic Pandals are the hallmark of the celebrations. Almost the whole city is decorated with colourful and bright street lights. It is an experience of its own kind and the best way to experience this is on foot during evening.

The preparations usually begin almost a month before. A lot of hardwork, effort and resources is put to make it grand and a success. A lot of innovation & creativity also goes into the design of the Pandals. e.g. Pandal made completely of coir or made completely out of tin or made completelt by lentils and pulses. Sometimes, the pandals are very thematic too. e.g. depiction of World Trade Center, Tsunami of 2004, Eco-friendly etc. And it is not restricted to pandals only, even decoration of idols are very innovative and expiremented with. e.g. The below picture shows the idols made completely out of dry fruits.

Below picture shows decoration in a different and non-traditional way.
